Minister, Bolaji Abdulahi, predicts bleak future for Nigerian football if the
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is not strong enough to resolve the crisis
in the
Nigeria Premier League (NPL).
Last week,
the Congress of the NPL tackled the board headlong, accusing the board of
inactions and malpractices and set up an interim committee to oversee the NPL
functions.
However,
Abdulahi, in his message to the 68th session of the NFF’s Annual General
Assembly (AGS), held in Port Harcourt on Thursday, said Nigerian football
will suffer as long as there is no peace in the organisation of the league.
“This crisis
(in the NPL) will affect Nigerian football at all levels if it is not checked
with immediate effect,’’ said Abdulahi, represented by former Secretary
General, NFF, Bolaji Ojo-Oba.
He added
that the NSC would only play an observatory role conceding the initiative
to the NFF.
